Private beta — onboarding data teams now

Platform / Infrastructure Engineer

Own the infrastructure NerveStax agents work in: isolated sandboxes, background jobs, our hosted service and the self-hosted install teams run themselves.

About NerveStax

NerveStax builds AI agents for data teams. They work on the stack a team already runs: dbt, Airflow, the warehouse and git. The agents load data, change models, look after schedules and investigate pipeline alerts.

Every change is tested in a sandbox and reaches a person as a pull request to approve. We are an early, small team in private beta, onboarding data teams now, hosted or self-hosted.

About the role

Every NerveStax conversation gets its own sandbox, and customers choose between our hosted service and running it on their own infrastructure. You'll own both paths: the sandbox layer that isolates agent work, the background job system behind it, the hosted environment, and the install that security teams read line by line before they approve it. Both paths have to stay dependable as the product, the providers underneath and the compliance bar all move.

What you’ll do

  • Own the sandbox layer that isolates agent work, and keep it portable as we add or change the providers it runs on.
  • Operate the hosted service: clusters, databases, secrets, releases and the cost of running it.
  • Keep the self-hosted install predictable and documented, so a team can run NerveStax in their own environment.
  • Grow the background job system that runs the work agents leave behind.
  • Work on isolation, least privilege and secrets handling, and answer the security reviews that follow.
  • Make releases, rollbacks and migrations safe enough to run on an ordinary afternoon.
  • Prepare for what scale and enterprise buyers will ask for next, from regions to certification evidence.

We’re looking for people who

  • Have operated container infrastructure in production and debugged it when it misbehaved.
  • Treat security as part of the design: isolation, least privilege and secrets handling.
  • Automate what you repeat, and write down what you can't automate.
  • Are comfortable reading and changing application code, mostly Python.
  • Prefer well-understood infrastructure wherever it does the job.
  • Can weigh a managed service against running it yourself, and say why.

Nice to have

  • Maintained an install that customers run themselves.
  • Worked with sandboxing or virtualisation such as gVisor, Firecracker or microVMs.
  • Database operations: migrations, backups and performance.
  • Taken a company through its first security questionnaires or audits.

What we provide

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Ownership of real problems, from design to production.
  • Direct work with the data teams who use the product.
  • Your choice of tools, including AI coding agents.
  • A say in what the product and the company become.
